About CMN Ambassador - Wendy

My daughter, Ariella, was born with CMN, and we found Nevus Outreach soon after her birth through the 1-800 call line. By the time Ariella was three and a half, we attended our first conference, and we continued attending the next five conferences until her summer schedule eventually conflicted with the dates. I was so thrilled that we were able to attend again in 2026.

Being at the 2026 conference with Ariella was an experience I will never forget. I had always hoped that she would one day be able to give back to an organization that had been so important to our family while she was growing up, but seeing it happen was beyond anything I imagined.

I watched Ariella comfort and encourage parents of children of all ages, speak on an “Adults with Nevus” panel, reconnect with old friends, make new ones from around the world, and even help me understand complicated medical terminology. I am still overflowing with pride.

Nevus Outreach helped us navigate what was initially a scary and unfamiliar landscape through friendship, information, and, most importantly, the feeling that we were seen and understood.

Having a child with CMN can be a lonely experience at first. I want every family who is new to this journey to have access to accurate information and to know that they are not alone. I also hope that medical and nursing schools will continue to teach about CMN so that future medical professionals can respond with grace, compassion, and knowledge.

I am so grateful that our family can continue to be part of this amazing community and help provide comfort to others facing uncertainty, whether they are navigating a new diagnosis or entering a new stage of life.

Awareness can turn a scary and unfamiliar experience into one filled with knowledge, connection, and community.
