About CMN Ambassador - Beckett

From the time he was in the womb, we knew Beckett would be a force. We prepared for the typical “wild second child” experience, but we could never have anticipated how much our world would shift when he was born. After a quick and dramatic delivery, the room went silent. Nobody there had ever seen a baby like Beckett before, and no one knew if he was hurt, bruised, or what had happened. Once our pediatrician confirmed that he was born with a giant congenital melanocytic nevus, we were suddenly swept into a scary world of the unknown. Within 24 hours, we learned about the risks associated with CMN. Three weeks later, an MRI confirmed NCM. Since then, Beckett has endured countless appointments and checkups, biopsies, two MRIs, and surgery for further excisions of the biopsy sites. Through it all, Beckett has remained the happiest, high-energy baby, just as we had imagined he would be. As parents, this was an incredibly isolating and challenging time because nobody else in our lives could truly understand what we were experiencing. Our world changed for the better when we discovered Nevus Outreach and attended the 2026 conference in Orlando. We met other families whose stories were similar to ours and experienced the care, connection, and support that make the Nevus Outreach community so special. We knew we had found our people, and we are so grateful that Beckett will be able to grow up surrounded by others who truly understand him. Raising awareness is more important to us than ever. We want medical researchers to continue their important work so families like ours can have more answers and advancements in care. We also want Beckett to grow up confident in who he is and feel unwavering support from his community. Beckett was made to be dynamic—high-energy, resilient, and strong.
