Allison was our shining light! Hopefully through us her light will continue to shine and help others, possibly preventing the heartbreak we had to endure. Any bit of time and money to promote awareness goes a long way and is greatly appreciated.

About CMN Ambassador - April - In Honor of Allison

My daughter was born in 2012 with a giant bathing suit nevi. At that time in San Antonio, Tx there was not much shared with us about her condition; what she had, how it happened, what to expect, what to do, etc.

All the information the doctor gave, was tell me to look up Nevus.org for more information. I took my daughter to all her doctor and dermatologist appointments with doctors telling me she was growing well and healthy. Never received any suggestions for MRIs or CT Scans to be done; other than the one MRI at birth.

During outings, I applied sunscreen to her skin for protection. I felt I did all the right things. At no time did I ever think that Melanoma would come into our lives.

My daughter lost her battle at 11 years old. After the loss of our daughter, we became directly aware of the lack of communication and community that South Texas has for CMN owners and family.

This is something that my husband and I want to take on. We want to share our experience and our time to help others.

Raising awareness about CMN in South Texas is something I’m deeply passionate about. It’s so important to shed light on this condition so that individuals living with CMN, as well as their families, have the knowledge and resources they need. Understanding what CMN is, how to care for it, and how to prevent things like Melanoma can make such a difference in their lives. This is more than just raising awareness, it’s about providing the support and care that these individuals truly deserve.
